Team India stormed into the World Cup 2023 final after ravaging New Zealand in the semis in Mumbai. Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer pounded twin centuries in the high-octane showdown, where the latter’s innings helped him soar past 500 runs in the ongoing edition.

Last weekend, Indian captain Rohit Sharma also completed 500 runs in his World Cup 2023 profile through his dazzling half-century against Netherlands in Bengaluru. The run-scoring spree by the three cricketers has helped India scale a huge batting record in ODI World Cups as they brace themselves to face Australia for the title clash on November 19.

Sharma, Kohli, Iyer guide IND to this record

Indian batting legend Virat Kohli, alongside fellow veteran Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer, have all minted over 500 runs in the ongoing 2023 World Cup. Their run-fest marks the first-ever occasion of a team with three players with more than 500 runs in a single edition of the global tournament.

Kohli, meanwhile, is also leading the run-scoring charts with 711 runs in his profile. The cricketer produced 117 match-winning runs against New Zealand in the semifinal, and the innings took him past Sachin Tendulkar (673 runs from 2003) to score the most individual runs in a single World Cup chapter.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has tallied 550 runs at an astonishing strike rate of 124.15 with a century and three additional fifty-plus scores to his name. Shreyas Iyer has listed 526 runs from his end and recently plundered successive 100-plus scores in the tournament.

The three cricketers might well extend their World Cup 2023 tally further through the upcoming final against Australia. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the much-awaited clash on November 19.
