Australia defeated India by four wickets in the second T20I at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, chasing down 126 in just 13.2 overs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. After being asked to bowl first, Australia’s pace attack, led by Josh Hazlewood (3/13) and Nathan Ellis (2/21), dismantled India’s batting lineup. 

Only Abhishek Sharma (68 off 37) and Harshit Rana (35 off 33) showed resistance as India were bowled out for 125 in 18.4 overs. In reply, captain Mitchell Marsh smashed 46 off 26 balls, while Travis Head added 28 off 15 in a brisk start. Despite Jasprit Bumrah’s double strike late in the innings, the Aussies comfortably crossed the line with 40 balls to spare. 

Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav also picked two wickets each, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Australia from clinching an easy victory in front of a packed MCG crowd.

Jasprit Bumrah produced a fiery over, taking two wickets in two balls to put Australia under pressure despite them being close to victory. He first dismissed Mitchell Owen for 14 with a slower delivery that edged to Sanju Samson, confirmed by the TV umpire. 

On the next ball, Bumrah bowled a searing yorker to Matthew Short, shattering his stumps and moving to 98 T20I wickets. With two slips and an attacking field, Xavier Bartlett faced the hat-trick ball but survived. Australia, needing just five runs to win, stood five wickets down after Bumrah’s brilliant display of precision and pace.
