The current Royal Challengers wicketkeeper batter opened up about his tough conversation with Kuldeep Yadav in 2019 when he was the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Dinesh Karthik expressed on Ravichandran Ashwin's YouTube Channel that he had some "tough conversations" with spinner Kuldeep Yadav who was not in good form and was benched after he scalped just four wickets in 9 games in the 2019 Indian Premier League edition.

Dinesh Karthik Expressed His 'Tough Time' With Kuldeep Yadav in 2019

Karthik was the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders from 2018-20 and he added that he had to be brutally honest with Kuldeep as he was not doing well as he is doing right now in IPL as well as for India.

"During my time as KKR captain, Kuldeep (Yadav) was not doing as well as he is right now. There were tough conversations with him, and I don't think he would have appreciated me at that stage. I had to be tough with him," Karthik added.

The wicketkeeper batter also expressed his happiness regarding Kuldeep's performance since he has been playing for Delhi Capitals since 2022 he believes that the spinner was able to understand what Dinesh wanted to convey to him regarding his bowling and he thinks that there is nothing personal with them.

"It was a hard time for Kuldeep. I think those tough times have made him a better bowler today. My bad luck is that I had to be a part of that bad phase in his life. I hope he understands what I did. I do not want him to appreciate it and be ok with it. You have to make decisions for the team and there was nothing personal," Karthik added.

Dinesh Karthik has declared this to be his last season of playing cricket in IPL for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The seasoned stumper is in excellent form for the 2024 season as he scored 90 runs in five matches with a strike-rate of 173.08.

Kuldeep Yadav has been sidelined due to a recent groin niggle from the last couple of games, leaving DC without his services.
