Apart from cricketing legacy, the iconic Wankhede Stadium witnessed a history as Rohit Sharma unveils another milestone of his career. On May 16, MCA inaugurates the ‘Rohit Sharma stand’ and etches a forever memory.

With the presence of his family and teammates, the evening was even more special for the Hitman. Rohit described the moment as surreal and deeply humbling, calling it one of the biggest honors of his career.

Hitman’s Feelings On This Honor

Starting as a youngster in Mumbai cricket, Rohit Sharma’s journey into the global stage has become nothing short of a fairy tale. Recognizing his deep connection with Wankhede, the Mumbai Cricket Association honored him in a way only fitting for a true great.

As the ‘Rohit Sharma Stand’ has been unveiled at the Wankhede Stadium, another feather has been added to Rohit’s achievement hat. Calling it a surreal feeling, Rohit shared how emotional it will be to walk onto the field against DC with a stand bearing his name.

“It will be a surreal feeling on 21st when I come here and play against Delhi Capitals, representing Mumbai Indians, and to have a stand, it will be a very, very special feeling. It'll even get special while representing the country whenever that happens. India plays whichever team here, which will make it even more special,” He said.

Emotion Echoes From Hitman’s Voice

From having a dream to represent India at his home ground, Wankhede, to having a stand named after him in the stadium, Hitman proves his heroics. On this special day, the Hitman’s heartfelt gratitude to his family stood out, as he acknowledged their unwavering support with visible emotion in his speech.

“I am grateful to have this big honour in front of so many people, especially my family, my mom and dad, my brother, his wife, and my wife, who is also present here. I'm so grateful for whatever they sacrificed for me... I also thank my special team, Mumbai Indians..." he added.

As the IPL resumes from May 17, the Mumbai Indians are set to face the Delhi Capitals on May 21. Being in the fourth position of the points table, they will be eyeing crucial 2 points to be in the playoff race.
