Just hours before the start of IPL 2024, Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Hardik Pandya shared a heartwarming video marking his completion of 10 years in the cash-rich league.

Since his IPL debut in 2015, Pandya has evolved significantly as a player and as a leader. Over seven years, from 2015 to 2021, he played a pivotal role in the MI team's successes.

His versatility was evident as he contributed with both bat and ball, often fulfilling multiple roles within the team. Following a lackluster performance in 2021, MI released Pandya, leading to his stint with the Gujarat Titans (GT).

There, he achieved his maiden IPL title as captain in 2022 but narrowly missed out on a second title in 2023.

In a remarkable trade move in November 2023, Pandya returned to the Mumbai Indians after leading the Gujarat Titans for two seasons. Shortly before the IPL 2024 mini-auction, MI announced Pandya as their new captain, succeeding Rohit Sharma.

Reflecting on his journey, Pandya shared an emotional video with a caption expressing gratitude for the experiences and growth he has encountered throughout his 10-year IPL tenure.

“In my 10th IPL season, grateful for the journey, for the growth, for everything that's come my way. And to be back with a team that's always been in my heart,” Hardik Pandya wrote on X.

Pandya has emerged as one of the premier all-rounders in the IPL, amassing 2,309 runs at an impressive average of 30.38 and a striking rate of 145.86 in 123 matches. Additionally, he has claimed 53 wickets and scored 10 half-centuries.

In his debut match as Mumbai Indians captain, Pandya faces an interesting challenge as they go head-to-head against his former team, the Gujarat Titans, in their season opener on Sunday, March 24, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

This encounter holds special significance as Pandya previously led the Gujarat Titans for two seasons, adding an extra layer of excitement to the match.
