Harry Brook Trusts Dawson To Shine In Manchester
After a hard-earned victory in the Lord’s Test, England faced a setback as Shoaib Bashir has been ruled out of the remaining matches of the series due to an unfortunate finger injury. Meanwhile, the injury became a golden opportunity for Liam Dawson as he received his Test call-up after eight years.
In recent times, he turned heads in the domestic circuit as Dawson secured 21 wickets in 16 innings for Hampshire, and his batting ability can be an added asset. In a press conference ahead of the fourth Test, Harry Brook praised his fighting spirit, calling him a vital boost who brings great energy to the team.
“He's a wily, old fox. He's very experienced and a very skilful cricketer. He's played everywhere, played against everyone, so hopefully he can have an amazing performance this week,” he said.
“As we've seen over the Test series, the footholes have been for the left-handed batters outside off, so hopefully he can land it in the footholes and create a bit of spice and some opportunities to take wickets. He's willing to always fight for the team, he's very competitive, and it's good to have him here,” he added.
With a potential change, England is all set to step into the iconic Old Trafford Stadium, setting their sights on keeping the domination alive. Leading the series 2-1, Ben Stokes and his men will look to seal another commanding win over the visitors.
