Australia will be eager to come back to winning ways after suffering a defeat against India in their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 opener in Chennai. Ahead of their second match against South Africa, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell hinted about fellow all-rounder Marcus Stoinis' return in Lucknow.

The ground happens to be the Stoinis' home ground in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Lucknow Super Giants, which could provide the Australian side with some deep insights as well.

The 34-year-old was unavailable for selection against India after suffering from a hamstring injury. As quoted by Sportskeeda, Maxwell stated that the hard-hitting player is excited to play soon.

Here's what Maxwell said

"He’ll be good to go. This is his home ground in the IPL, so hopefully he’ll enjoy being back out there in a couple of days’ time. He’s excited and frustrated he couldn’t be out there for the first game. He’s someone who obviously is a match-winner and someone you need in these types of tournaments.”

In 64 ODIs, the LSG player has scored 1,400 runs and claimed 44 wickets for Australia between 2015 and 2023.

Australia plays South Africa on October 12 and then squares off against Sri Lanka on October 16 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, which is infamous for producing slow and low-scoring matches..

However, with a newly laid pitch, the conditions are expected to improve and present an ideal chance for ODI cricket.
