Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has shared his thoughts on the ongoing tension between opening batter Fakhar Zaman and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He also urged that both should prioritise the future of Pakistan cricket and keep personal disputes aside.
Speaking on a local news channel, Shoaib Akhtar criticised the prolonged exclusion of Fakhar from the team, attributing it to 'ego battles' within the management. He expressed his disappointment at the situation and emphasised the value that Fakhar Zaman brings to the squad.
"Fakhar Zaman is a talented and dedicated player, but he has been sidelined unnecessarily due to personal differences," remarked Akhtar. "Even if he is not part of the team today, Pakistan will need him eventually. The legendary fast bowler also advised the left-handed opener to focus on his on-field performances rather than making public remarks about his situation. "Fakhar needs to let his bat speak. Avoid unnecessary statements and prove yourself with consistent performances," Akhtar added.

The 49-year-old cricket legend also offered advice to Fakhar Zaman and encouraged him to shift his focus toward performances rather than public statements.
“Fakhar also needs to understand one thing: he should stop giving such statements. Instead, he should perform and let his bat do the talking,” Akhtar added.
Fakhar Zaman has notably been left out of Pakistan’s white-ball squads for the ongoing series against South Africa. Interim head coach Aqib Javed cited Fakhar’s fitness and lack of recent form as the primary reasons for his exclusion.
"I'm fit, and that's why I'm playing. If given a chance, I’ll play and aim to perform well. My goal is to help Pakistan win, just like I did during the Champions Trophy," Zaman remarked.
Despite the claims, Fakhar has firmly denied concerns about his fitness. During his performances at the ongoing Champions T20 Cup, he maintained his readiness and commitment.
