Pakistan's former pacer Tanveer Ahmed has slammed the BCCI for appointing Gautam Gambhir as Team India's new coach.

A flamboyant opener in his time, Gambhir recently succeeded the legendary Rahul Dravid as India's head coach.

He is all set to begin his stint with the national side in the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, where the Men in Blue will face the Lankan Lions in six white-ball matches in their backyard.

Ex-PAK pacer insults Gambhir with 'parchi' remark

Meanwhile, Pakistan's former fast bowler Tanveer Ahmed has insulted Gambhir with the infamous 'parchi' remark.

According to him, VVS Laxman deserved to be India's new coach as he mentored their second-string sides in Dravid's absence. He suspected Gambhir's appointment was nothing but a case of recommendation.

"VVS Laxman should have become the head coach of the Indian team because he has been with the India B team as coach for a long time. It seems as if Gautam Gambhir's appointment is a 'Parchi' case," Ahmed said as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

Notably, Gambhir recently led Kolkata Knight Riders to their third title in the Indian Premier League.

Besides being one of the finest Indian openers, the southpaw has ample coaching experience, having served multiple IPL teams with distinction. So, Ahmed's remarks seem to be nothing but derogatory and baseless.
