The Texas Super Kings faced the Seattle Orcas in the 21st and the last league stage match of the MLC 2024. While this game had little significance to the qualification scenarios in the tournament, the Texas Super Kings were looking for a win to carry the momentum into the business end.

Faf du Plessis and his men were put to bat by the Orcas. The Super Kings did not have a great start to the innings as they lost two early wickets and were struggling at 12/2 within the second over of the innings. Faf du Plessis tried to get the team back on track, but wickets kept on falling at regular intervals, and it looked like the Super Kings were losing the plot.

Santner plays his part with the bat

Amidst the strangle that the Orcas had on the Super Kings, Mitchell Santner came up with a wonderous shot. On the fifth delivery of the 11th over, the Kiwi all-rounder tonked Ali Sheik for a stylish maximum that reminded the spectators of the Super Kings legend and Indian T20 specialist - Suresh Raina.

Ali Sheikh tossed up the ball at the off stump. Santner waited for it and went inside out over long-off for a huge six. Notably, going inside out to spinners was a trademark shot of Suresh Raina.

TSK bowlers bring the game home

Coming back to the match, despite the early struggles, Super Kings managed to post 177/8 in their 20 overs, courtesy of a brilliant knock played by Calvin Savage (45* off 27). The total proved to be enough as the Super Kings bowlers managed to restrict the Orcas to 140/9 in 20 overs, helping the team win by 37 runs.

The Super Kings will next face MI New York in the Eliminator of the tournament on July 25 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.
