England's Test revival under Ben Stokes has been phenomenal, where the Three Lions have won 13 matches out of 19 since the all-rounder donned the skipper's hat in 2022.

However, Stokes' recurring knee injury has hampered the all-rounder lately, which has raised concerns over his future for England.

Meanwhile, former England captain Nasser Hussain stated how the Test skipper's time in international cricket could end earlier than usual.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Hussain asserted that Stokes is most crucial, but England will also need to learn life without the all-rounder.

Here's what Hussain said

"Stokes is three cricketers in one, he's a batter, a bowler and a captain which makes him a pivotal cricketer, especially in those conditions with his leadership qualities. I'm not sure how much Stokes is going to bowl in the future of his career. Stokes is such a main man for England but they have to learn to live without him."

The cricketer-turned-commentator also highlighted how Stokes' injuries have led to his underwhelming performance as a batter.

"The reason he had the operation was to help him bowl more, but the last two years he's been hobbling around and to a degree it's affected his batting too. We've seen him play certain shots and then collapse. In a five-match Test series in the heat, you can't afford that."

Stokes recently underwent successful knee surgery and will undergo a rehabilitation programme under ECB's medical staff. Meanwhile, Stokes' next international assignment as captain will be against India in a five-Test series on Indian shores.
