As Gujarat Titans navigate the early phase of IPL 2025, Sai Sudharsan continues to shine as a pillar of consistency at the top of the order. The Indian batting prodigy has already punched out three successive notable innings, including two in match-winning causes, as the left-handed top-order batter has so far accrued 186 runs in three innings of the season.
While the Tamil Nadu batting star made his international debut for Team India back in late 2023 and has since played a couple of ODIs and a T20I match, the youngster is now aiming to represent his nation in Test cricket.
Sai Sudharsan aiming for Test debut
Sai Sudharsan was recently asked about his Test ambitions ahead of India’s five-match tour of England. Notably, the tour will be preceded by an India A tour of England, which might well serve as a dress rehearsal for several uncapped stars and emerging red-ball talents.
Sudharsan stated that while it is his “dream to play Test cricket”, he is currently focused upon Gujarat Titans’ IPL 2025 prospects. He said:
“Obviously, the dream is to play Test cricket. I think you have to dream really big to achieve what you want to achieve. Right now, I’m taking baby steps and thinking about the IPL, but why not? Definitely, I would love to equip myself to play in those conditions and do my best for the country.”
Sai Sudharsan listed successive half-centuries against Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians to launch his IPL 2025 campaign at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. The cricketer scored another quick 49 against RCB in Bengaluru to headline Titans’ emphatic eight-wicket win alongside half-centurion Jos Buttler.
Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, the Sai Sudharsan-starrer Gujarat Titans will now face Sai Sudharsan in match number 19 of the IPL 2025 season on Sunday, April 6 at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
