Former India captain Virat Kohli is having a stellar run in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, where the maverick is the leading run-getter with 594 runs, including two centuries and five fifties.

While fans and former players have heaped praise for the star player, few voices have at times called Kohli's knocks selfish including his 49th ODI hundred against South Africa.

However, former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has brushed aside such talks and stated that the 35-year-old batter does not play for records.

Speaking to Sports Tak, Harbhajan explained his recent interaction with Kohli during the CWC 2023, where the batter stated how centuries will come to him, but his main goal is to win India matches.

Here's what Harbhajan said

"I don't think Virat Kohli plays for records. I met him a few days ago during a match and told him that he missed out on a century. Replying to that, he said, 'It's okay. There are a lot of matches and hundreds will come when they have to.' That is his mindset. For him, it is more important to play good cricket and win matches for the team."

Kohli will be in action for India when Rohit Sharma and Co. clash against New Zealand in the semi-finals of the World Cup 2023 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai tomorrow.

Kohli narrowly missed a hundred against the Kiwis in group stage, falling for 95 at Dharamshala.
