The ongoing Test between India and the West Indies has turned into a fiery contest, with India’s batting line-up ruthlessly dismantling the Caribbean attack. Amidst all the heroics, Jaiswal’s outstanding innings was one of the biggest moments of India’s performance.

Notching up his seventh Test century, Jaiswal delivered a powerful statement, giving India a commanding edge. After wrapping up the game, the young Indian opener received special praise from Brian Lara.

Lara’s praise for Jaiswal

After winning the first match, Team India faced West Indies in Delhi, and the fans witnessed some classic actions from the Indian side. As Indian batters dismantled the Caribbean bowling attack, Yashasvi Jaiswal led the way with a classic knock. Completing his seventh Test hundred, he was closing in on a spectacular double ton, but unfortunately, he walked away with 175 runs.

The cricketing world watched in awe as Yashasvi Jaiswal lit up the field with his brilliance, and among those captivated was none other than West Indies legend Brian Lara. In a recent BCCI video, Lara was seen praising Yashasvi Jaiswal after his spectacular knock. Hugging the young opener, he said, “Don’t beat our bowlers that bad.” Jaiswal was all smiles after that.

Team over milestones, records can wait

Even his dismissal broke fans’ hearts, Yashasvi’s only goal was to put the team in a safe place. In the video, the young opener reflected on his knock with maturity beyond his years, emphasizing that personal milestones can wait, because for him, the team always comes first.

“I always put the team first. How can I play for my team, and what is important for my team at that moment of time? So I always think that, and that gives me the answer how I can play, what shots I can play, and how the wicket is. And if I am there, I make sure that I take it as long as I can. So that is all my mindset, that if I have a start, I make sure that I should make it big,” Jaiswal said.

Jaiswal heaps praise on skipper Gill

After Sai Sudharsan’s dismissal after an exceptional knock, captain Shubman Gill joined Jaiswal on the field, and the duo stitched another exceptional partnership as the team rushed to put some quick runs. Though their stand ended in a moment of miscommunication that led to Jaiswal’s controversial dismissal, the young opener showered praise on his captain for the way he led from the front.

"Gill bhai has batted amazingly as always. That is what we were talking about, if we are in, we should make it count and just keep playing on our instincts as well. If there is a loose ball, we should go for runs. It was very nice to bat with him. The way he bats and the way he runs the game when he is batting, it's absolutely fantastic,” he added.

With a massive total on the board, Team India is now in the driver’s seat in the game. The West Indies, reeling at 164 for 6 in their first innings, find themselves staring at a daunting 354-run deficit as India tightens its grip on the contest.
