According to emerging reports, Virat Kohli might not prolong his IPL career as MS Dhoni did after retiring from international cricket. It's worth mentioning that Kohli has already retired from Tests and T20Is, while, according to the BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar, the talismanic batter is not committed to playing the 2027 World Cup. As uncertainty looms over Kohli's future in international cricket, a fresh report has emerged, decoding the chances of the legendary batter's premature exit from the Indian Premier League. 

Kohli denies renewal of brand deal with RCB; hints at IPL dissociation

Virat Kohli inarguably is the biggest cricketing icon in India. Apart from strengthening the Royal Challengers Bengaluru with his consistency and stroke play, Kohli brings immense face value with lucrative brand deals for the franchise. 

However, as reported by Rohit Juglan from RevSportz, Virat Kohli had to renew his contract with a particular brand. But he has apparently denied the contract's renewal. The report claims that the veteran cricketer wants RCB to search for an alternative face, hinting he might step away from the IPL anytime soon.

After releasing Faf du Plessis to the mega auction pool, RCB approached Virat Kohli for IPL captaincy; however, the talismanic cricketer declined the role and proposed Rajat Patidar's name. His recommendation worked wonders for the franchise, with Patidar leading them to their first-ever IPL title in 18 years. 

Thus, Kohli's decision of not to be involved in the leadership group and his clear instruction to RCB to find an alternative suggest that he might not be active as an IPL player for a long time. In a career spanning 18 years, Kohli has been the backbone of RCB, slamming 8661 runs across 267 outings. He has also led RCB in 143 matches, the most by anyone in the franchise's history.
