In the midst of the Indian Premier League's trading frenzy, veteran cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle has shared his insights on the high-profile move of all-rounder Hardik Pandya back to Mumbai Indians.

Hardik Bhogle weighs in on Hardik Pandya's return to Mumbai Indians

The Hardik Pandya transfer saga, which has been the subject of intense speculation, marks the all-rounder's return to his original IPL team and has been a major talking point ahead of the November 26 deadline for player retentions.

Taking to Twitter, Bhogle revealed how he was initially skeptical over the possibility of this transfer. According to him, the idea of Hardik leaving Gujarat Titans seemed improbable, especially considering his remarkable achievements with the team, including leading them to the IPL title in his debut season as captain. He further stated that if the trade happens, it could be one of the most significant coups in the history of the TATA IPL, should the 30-year-old maintain his fitness and form.

“When I first got a whiff of the Hardik Pandya transfer back to @mipaltan ,I didn't think it would actually happen. It was too big a move and he had produced stellar results at @gujarat_titans . But it is on and if he stays fit, it will be as big a coup as is possible in the #TATAIPL,” wrote Bhogle.

According to an ESPNcricinfo report, the deal to bring Hardik back to Mumbai Indians involves an all-cash transaction. The report further states that Mumbai Indians will cover Hardik’s salary of Rs. 15 crore and pay an additional undisclosed transfer fee to Gujarat Titans, half of which will be pocketed by the cricketer.

It is worth mentioning that Hardik's journey with Gujarat Titans has been noteworthy, highlighted by his leadership in guiding the team to the IPL finals twice, including a title win in 2022. His potential second championship was narrowly missed as CSK clinched the IPL 2023 final on the last ball.

While Hardik's time with the Titans is drawing to a close, Mumbai Indians fans will be eagerly anticipating the return of the seasoned all-rounder.
