In a significant development, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) officials have reportedly refuted claims of Afghanistan not touring Pakistan for the upcoming tri-series. Notably, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are all set to tour Pakistan for a tri-series that starts on November 17.

However, there were reports that amid the BCCI vs PCB tussle, Afghanistan might avoid travelling to Pakistan for the tri-series as they are favouring the BCCI amid their tussle with the Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB.

“completely baseless and misleading,” remarked an ACB official as quoted by Firstpost based on reports by Samaa TV.

Why did the rumours of Afghanistan pulling out of the tri-series emerge

Following the Asia Cup 2025, the tensions between the BCCI and PCB are at an all-time high after Mohsin Naqvi refused to give the trophy to India following their win over Pakistan in Dubai.

Naqvi fled with the trophy and actually locked the silverware in his office at the ACC headquarters. In a response, BCCI filed a complaint against Naqvi, and reports suggest that the apex cricket board of India is looking for Naqvi's impeachment and removal.

Reports suggested that the Afghanistan Cricket Board has backed BCCI in their stance, which is why the upcoming tri-series might not proceed as planned. However, the board has now squashed such rumours.

Afghanistan-Pakistan conflict might impact the series?

Although there is a new twist to the saga as Afghanistan and Pakistan recently engaged in a war-like situation at the border, where both sides inflicted damage on each other.

The tensions are rising with each passing hour, and the war-like situation between the two countries can certainly do a lot of damage to PCB's plans of hosting both Sri Lanka and Afghanistan for the tri-series.
