Team India started their final ODI assignment before the Champions Trophy with a thrilling win. After defeating England by 4 wickets, Rohit Sharma and Co. took the lead by 1-0. In every unit, Team India was exceptional and registered a thrilling win.

After dominating bowling in the first innings, Team India batters took away the game from the visitors with a remarkable run chase. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma reflected on the thrilling win, praising the team's collective efforts throughout.

Rohit Sharma On The Thrilling Victory

As Team India stepped into the match, the Indian bowlers faced setbacks initially as the English batters were hitting hard. But the bowlers turned the tide. Harshit Rana and Ravindra Jadeja dominated the opponent with exceptional bowling and the batters played a crucial role in the run chase. After the victory, Rohit Sharma praised all their efforts.

"Yeah, pretty happy. We all knew that we are coming off from a long time playing in this format. It was important for us to regroup as quickly as possible, try and understand what was required from each one of us.” Rohit said.

“I thought right from the beginning, we were very much what it was expected from us. Obviously, it did not start off well as their openers batted really well but I feel we have made a good comeback.” he added.

Praising Bowlers' Incredible Effort

Even After starting with a setback, the Indian bowlers bounced back remarkably. Phil Salt was run out in a remarkable effort by Shreyas Iyer. Harshit Rana shined with a stunning 3-wicket haul in his ODI debut and Jadeja secured three more crucial wickets. The other bowlers kept the domination alive and restricted the opponent to 248 runs. Following the victory, Captain Rohit Sharma lauded the bowlers' collective effort, praising their exceptional performance.

“Yeah look, in this format, you will always have a chance to make a comeback. There will be phases when things will drift away from you but you need to have the skillset to pull things back. The credit goes to the bowlers with the way they bowled and we have done a brilliant job to pull things back. We were really good in the field as well.” he said.

Hailing Axar For His Exceptional All-Round Performance

After Shreyas Iyer’s dismissal, he joined Shubman Gill as a number 5 batter. His blistering knock of 52 runs in 47 balls gave a huge boost to India’s innings. While showcasing his all-round ability, he secured 1 wickets while conceding 38 runs. In the end, Rohit Sharma hailed the Indian all-rounder for his remarkable effort.

“No look, we wanted a leftie in the middle order, it was pretty simple for us. We wanted to take on the two spinners in that middle phase. We all know how good Axar has been with the bat. He has proved it time and again, really happy with his performance and also the partnership with Shreyas.” he ended.
