Virat Kohli vehemently celebrated India’s emphatic win over England in the first ODI match at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. While the legendary Indian batter was not a part of the playing XI due to an injury, the 36-year-old caught up with unbeaten Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya near the boundary line as Team India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Amidst reports of rifts within the Indian team, senior players like Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja were all smiles in Nagpur after the ‘Men in Blue’ cruised to a composed four-wicket win against England.

The three cricketers vehemently celebrated the occasion as Team India’s 2025 Champions Trophy preparations got off to an emphatic start.

Virat Kohli was excluded out of India’s playing XI as the legendary Indian batter had a knee problem on his right leg, as confirmed by national captain and fellow seasoned campaigner Rohit Sharma.

In the absence of Virat Kohli, newly-appointed vice-captain Shubman Gill stood up to the occasion by punching out a majestic 87 from 96 balls against England. Slipping to 19-2 in a chase of 249 runs, Gill shared match-defining partnerships with fellow half-centurions Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel as India romped home with four wickets and more than 11 overs to spare.

Earlier in the match, Indian bowlers collectively restricted the Englishmen to just 248. Debutant Harshit Rana picked up the prized scalps of Ben Duckett, Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone while comeback man Mohammed Shami dismissed Brydon Carse.

With spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav taking a wicket each, they were largely overshadowed by senior bowling mate Ravindra Jadeja, who finished with impressive figures of 3-26 from his nine overs.
