Ben Oliver’s Take On This Prestigious Series

With the upcoming Test series between these two teams, another new cycle of the World Test Championship will be started. Ahead of the series kicked off, Cricket Australia’s General Manager Ben Oliver shares his excitement.

“Australia and the West Indies share a rich history, and we're delighted the Test series has been expanded to three matches. The series will start the next World Test Championship cycle and, as we saw last summer, we will have to be at our best to retain the Frank Worrell Trophy.” Oliver said.

“The additional T20 matches against a dynamic West Indies team will also provide a great opportunity to progress our preparation for the next T20 World Cup which is now only 12 months away.” Oliver added.

In early 2024, both sides met each other in a two-match Test series and the cricket world witnessed some unmissable red-ball action. After facing a massive defeat in the first Test match, West Indies registered a thrilling 8-run win in the second Test and leveled up the series by 1-1. In that match, West Indies bowler Shamar Joseph’s incredible bowling shattered the Aussie batting lineup. Both sides are set to add another thrilling chapter in their rivalry.
