Pakistan Players To Terminate Central Contracts Following NOC Issues With PCB: Reports

The state of Pakistan cricket has been a mishmash ever since the people in power started playing musical chairs with the PCB chief position.

A recent episode regarding Mohammad Haris being denied a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for participating in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 has left several Pakistan players unamused, which could see centrally contracted cricketers give up their deals with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The PCB made a policy where players would be permitted NOCs for a certain number of leagues, which witnessed the likes of Fakhar Zaman and Zaman Khan miss out on BPL contracts.

As reported by PTI, a source revealed that Pakistan players have not taken the recent PCB policy changes lightly and have made a matter out of the same.

"The matter has come to a head because recently the board refused NOCs to some players including Zaman Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Muhammad Haris to play in the Bangladesh Premier League on the grounds that they had already played two leagues besides the Pakistan Super League," the report stated.

Another source explained the PCB now permitting players to field in the ongoing ILT20 and SA20 has also been a bone of contention.

"The players feel that when there is no Pakistan assignment before the PSL why should the board stop them from playing in other leagues where they have good contracts," it further added.

Interestingly, the Pakistan players signed the PCB central contract after months of negotiations, just ahead of last year's ICC Cricket World Cup in India. As per current PCB guidelines, centrally contracted players are only allowed to feature in two foreign T20 leagues.
