The cricketing community will turn its eyes to Hyderabad on Tuesday as Pakistan and Sri Lanka prepare for a crucial match in the World Cup 2023. While both teams have experienced contrasting fortunes in their opening games, there's a shared concern: form and consistency.

Pakistan, despite clinching a commendable 81-run win against the Netherlands in their inaugural match, is facing significant concerns over their top order, particularly their openers. Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq, who have historically been strong pillars at the top, have lately been shadowed by a run drought.

Pointing out the same, former Indian cricketer and renowned cricketing expert, Aakash Chopra, in a recent YouTube video, highlighted the batting concerns surrounding openers Fakhar and Imam. He highlighted the need for them to find form, suggesting it's been a while since the duo delivered notable scores.

"The openers are not scoring runs at all. You can't even remember the last time the openers scored runs. Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq will have another chance here, play well here at least,” said Chopra.

Furthermore, Chopra commented on the extended dry spell of Pakistan skipper and batting mainstay Babar Azam, noting that his last significant performance was against Nepal in August.

However, he reckoned that despite these concerns, there might be a potential solution within the squad. Abdullah Shafique, who showed promise in his sole outing during the Asia Cup, could be considered as an option to bolster the batting lineup, according to the Indian veteran.

"Let's be fair, even Babar Azam's last big knock came against Nepal. That was August, September had not even started. Babar Azam has also not scored runs since then. Will they think about something else? They also have Abdullah Shafique in the squad and he did well in the one match he played in the Asia Cup,” added the 46-year-old.
