Riding on flamboyant half-centuries from Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan, England got off to a flying start in their second World Cup game against Bangladesh in Dharamsala. However, Bangladeshi skipper Shakib Al Hasan dismissed Bairstow to break the scintillating stand and bring a sigh of relief to the Tigers' camp.

After being put into bat, England were off to a flier, as Bairstow and Malan hammered the Bangladeshi bowlers to all parts of the ground.

Both batters completed their respective fifties, setting the tone for a massive score for England in this process. However, Shakib had other ideas, as he castled Bairstow to draw the first blood for Bangladesh.

After keeping it tight in the first four deliveries, Shakib bowled an arm ball, which straightened after pitching. It pushed the batter on his back foot, eventually breaching his defence and uprooting his leg stump.

Before being dismissed, Bairstow struck eight glorious boundaries for his 59-ball 52. After his departure, Joe Root has joined the middle to steady the English ship alongside Malan, who has looked rock-solid so far.

As of writing, England are 130 for one in 20.2 overs, with Malan and Root batting on 70* and 6*, respectively.
