Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag lauded Rohit Sharma for his brilliant display with the bat in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.
In the Super Eights match against Australia, Rohit's blistering 92 led India to a mammoth total of 205/5. Despite Travis Head's aggressive 76 off 43 balls, Australia could only manage 181/7 in their 20 overs, losing the game by 24 runs.
Rohit Sharma's Form And India's Journey
Rohit's explosive 92, scored off just 41 balls with seven fours and eight sixes, became the highlight of the tournament and set the stage for India's win over Aussies. Sehwag praised the Hitman by saying he would pay to watch the current Indian skipper bat.
"If there is one player whose game I would buy a ticket to watch, it would be Rohit Sharma. His batting is absolutely worth the money," said Sehwag while speaking to Cricbuzz.
Rohit has rediscovered his form at the right time for India. The team has been unstoppable, maintaining an unbeaten record alongside South Africa. Their path to the semi-finals has been impressive, overcoming challenges in the group stages against Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA.
In the Super 8s, they continued their winning streak against Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and dethroned the reigning champions, Australia, to secure their semi-final spot.
Next, the Men in Blue will face defending champions England on Wednesday, June 27th, in Guyana. Rohit's team will be seeking revenge for their crushing 10-wicket defeat against England in the previous edition's semi-final.
For the 37-year-old Rohit, this could possibly be his last appearance as captain in an ICC tournament. The pressure will on for him to end his tenure on a high note by winning this World Cup.
