The game that would go down as the best match in Afghanistan's cricketing history was the one where they shocked defending champions England with their famous spin choke orchestrated by the trio of Rashid Khan, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman and Mohammad Nabi to share eight wickets among themselves in the World Cup 2023 clash.

The joyful victory by 69 runs should also be attributed to opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who did an outstanding job by scoring an eventful 80 to provide an excellent platform for the big score.

Rashid, after the game, highlighted the belief that they have in the side to get better off any opposition in the tournament on any given day. Khan, who is one of the best spinners in the world at the moment, expressed his condolences to the people of his country who lost their lives in an unfortunate earthquake.

"This is a big win for us. This kind of performance gives us the belief that we can beat any side on any day. Cricket is something that brings joy to the people back home. Winning the game against England is big for us. Lately, we had an earthquake back home. Over 3000 people lost their lives. I feel this victory will just give something to smile for the people back home."

The leg-spinner, who bagged three wickets in the game, jokingly referred that his 23 runs were more crucial than those wickets, especially his first ball cover drive against Mark Wood.

"More than three wickets, scoring those runs, I was really happy with that. Also, the cover drive against Mark Wood. I'm happy. After a long time, I got three wickets."

Adding in the end, that this was a special occasion for his teammates Nabi and Rahmat Shah, playing their 100th and 150th game, respectively, for which they would celebrate after the win. Rashid reminded everyone of their side's loss against the same opposition in the 2016 T20 World Cup at this very ground in Delhi, where they came close to winning but couldn't capitalise on the moment.

"It's a special occasion for Nabi. 150th game for him. Also, 100th game for Rahmat Shah. We said that we would celebrate after the win. This will be a memorable win for him. We lost to England in the 2016 T20 World Cup here. We had a discussion about it. We restricted them to 140 but had a collapse. We learnt from the mistakes and really happy to win tonight."

This win has given Afghanistan two crucial points, taking them to the sixth position on the points table. Their next target would be New Zealand on 18th October in Chennai.
