After, Pakistan delivered an historic nine-victory win in the third and final Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed pride and satisfaction over Pakistan's remarkable performance. He praised the teams 'brilliant performance' and commended on team’s resilience and skill.
He also further stated and appreciated the impressive contributions of spinners Sajid Khan and Noman Ali. The duo played a crucial role for Pakistan to secure a historic series win over England. On a turning pitch, Pakistan’s spinners showcased their dominance, and without doubt completely exposed England's vulnerability against spin.
Mohsin Naqvi Comments On Pakistan's Win
After Pakistan's win, Mohsin Naqvi released a statement in which he applauded the team, especially Noman Ali and Sajid Khan. The duo restricted England to a mere score of 112 runs in their second innings. Noman Ali, with his 6-42 haul, and Sajid Khan, who took 4-69, were remarkable with the ball as England achieved lowest-ever total on Pakistani soil.
Further, the job was very easy for Pakistan as the team chased down the target and won the match and the series on home soil.
“The national players won by playing the best game. Sajid Khan and Nauman Ali proved their skills by bowling brilliantly. Saud Shakeel scored a century and showed excellent batting. The team put up a brilliant performance and won the Test series. This win will boost the morale of the players. The players along with the nation were waiting for such a glorious victory. The new players justified their inclusion in the team with performances,” said PCB President Mohsin Naqvi in a statement released on Saturday.
It is important to mention that, this series win marked the comeback for Pakistan, who rebounded from a heavy defeat in the first Test in Multan, where England clinched victory by an innings and 47 runs. However after Pakistan's defeat in subsequent games they made several; changes in the batting line-up and these changes turned out to beneficial for the team overall.
The decision to rest star players Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, and Shaheen Afridi and instead prioritize spin in the lineup was a calculated move that paid off. Spinners Sajid and Noman scalped a staggering 39 of the 40 English wickets throughout the series. This series marked one of the rare instances where Pakistan’s pace bowlers did not deliver a single ball in a Test series.
