The Indian cricket team faced a gigantic setback in their journey to the WTC Final 2025, having lost two Test matches back to back. India's chances of qualifying have shrunk from Xtra-Large to a Medium, as they now need four wins from just six games.

The Bengaluru Test posed significant challenges for India, as rain washed out Day 1. On Day 2, New Zealand's bowlers capitalized on difficult conditions, reducing India to just 46 runs in their first innings.

New Zealand then set a strong total of 402, led by Rachin Ravindra's 134. In response, Sarfaraz Khan's impressive 150 and Rishabh Pant’s near-century highlighted India's effort, but they suffered another collapse. Chasing 107 for victory, New Zealand sealed an eight-wicket win—their first Test victory in India in 36 years.

Now, in the Pune Test, India suffered a crushing 113-run defeat against the visitors as once again their batting order crumbled under pressure.

Meanwhile, fans on Twitter have begun to further criticise India's head coach, Gautam Gambhir, blaming that the highly awaited 'Gambhir Era' has turned out to be one of the worst coaching era's ever.

India Lose A Home Test Series In 12 Years

India's rare defeat against the BlackCaps turned out to be worse than ever as this victory also marked the first time in 4,331 days that a visiting team defeated India in a home Test series. On the flip side, this win is even more special for Tom Latham-led side because it’s their first Test series victory in India in 69 years. He also became the first NZ captain to win a series here in India.
