On Friday, January 31, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi addressed the press, where he provided updates on Champions Trophy 2025 preparation. Naqvi squashed rumours of stadiums' renovation to miss a deadline and listed down the dates for the inauguration of these grounds.
Notably, PCB has been under the scanner in the past few weeks as the Champions Trophy starts on February 19, and several videos have been flouted on the internet, highlighting the slow pace of construction at three stadiums in Pakistan, which will host the prestigious events.
Meanwhile, Naqvi assured the fans that the work is complete and remarked that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate the Gaddafi Stadium on Feb 7. He further, added that the president will inaugurate the Karachi stadium on February 11.
Mohsin Naqvi Slams BCCI And Indian Media
“Pakistan is prepared to welcome all teams for the Champions Trophy. Additionally, Karachi’s National Stadium will be inaugurated by President Asif Ali Zardari on Feb 11,” he maintained.
During his press conference, Naqvi did not hold back and took a dig at the BCCI for spreading rumours about the slow pace of work.
"Ek cheez kehna chahta hun. Border k uss paar bade log hai jo humare, ek patthar bhi galat lage toh voh dhundne ki koshish kar rahe hai. (I have noticed one thing. Across the border, there are big people, who are consistently searching for a mishap or error in the construction work, but by the grace of god, they haven't succeeded." he said speaking with the media.
Besides this, Mohsin Naqvi also confirmed that the opening ceremony of Champions Trophy 2025 will take place on February 16.
