In a deeply disturbing incident that has shaken the Panki area of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a cricket coach stands accused of drugging, sexually assaulting, and systematically intimidating a 12-year-old girl under his tutelage at a local academy.
Authorities revealed that the accused, a resident of Gangaganj, Uttar Pradesh, had fled following the registration of a police complaint, prompting an intensive manhunt to catch him.
FIR Reveals Sexual Assault Spanned Over Two Months
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed at Panki Police Station, the coach allegedly exploited his position to lure the survivor to his residence after coaching sessions over a two-month period. There, he intentionally administered drugs to incapacitate her before committing the assaults.
The survivor’s mother approached law enforcement after her daughter confided in her, detailing not only the physical abuse but also relentless psychological toil. The accused allegedly threatened the minor with social ostracization and hurled caste-based slurs to silence her.
POCSO And SC/ST Act Invoked In Case
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Vijyendra Dwivedi confirmed that the FIR invokes stringent sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
This case underscores a grim pattern of abuse in educational and extracurricular settings. In an earlier incident, the Gujaini area witnessed similar allegations against a music teacher at a prominent school, accused of molesting a four-year-old student. Both incidents have reignited concerns about the safety of children in environments meant to nurture their growth and passions.
