With exactly 19 days left for the prestigious ICC Champions Trophy 2025 slated to be held in Pakistan and the UAE, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still under immense pressure due to incomplete renovation work at the stadiums in Lahore and Karachi. Now, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has visited to get a clear view of the construction work.

According to Pakistan media outlet Geo Super, the PCB boss has travelled to Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium in order to properly inspect the facilities and get an update on the preparations for the global event.

Naqvi Gives His View On Gaddafi's Infrastructure

This news comes on the back of various media outlets reporting that PCB is behind time to hand over the Champions Trophy venues to the ICC (International Cricket Council) before the deadline. However, now, Naqvi stated that the new Gaddafi Stadium will be inaugurated in the first week of February, where prominent dignitaries from the Pakistan government could be present for the event.

Adding to this, it is being said that the PCB Chairman is highly impressed with the facilities and the work going on, considering that this will be the first stadium of international standard in Pakistan. He said,

"Along with the players, cricket fans will enjoy the new facilities. By the will of Almighty Allah, the new Gaddafi Stadium will be inaugurated in the first week of February."

He was so much impressed with work that he invited all the workers to watch the first game of the tri-series between Pakistan and New Zealand on 8th February at this very stadium. Naqvi himself checked all the changing rooms and hospitality boxes alongside every different floor at the venue to make sure that the quality of work was high class.

Champions Trophy Around The Corner

Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host four crucial matches during the ICC Champions Trophy, including the second semi-final, whereas the first semi-final will be held in Dubai. The 15-match tournament will be held from 19th February till 9th of March across Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi, while India will play their matches in Dubai.

India and Pakistan are in the same group and will face each other on 23rd February at Dubai International Cricket Stadium for the blockbuster clash.
