Rohit Sharma has established himself as one of the top batters for Team India. Known for his elegant batting style, Rohit has become a household name in modern-day cricket, especially for his famous pull shots in Test matches. With his incredible shot-making ability, the “Hitman” has won the hearts of cricket fans across the globe.

Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee recently expressed his admiration for Rohit Sharma. Speaking on The Follow On podcast by Fox Cricket, Lee shared how grateful he feels to witness Rohit’s evolution as a cricketer and captain. Lee specifically praised Rohit’s pull shot, calling it one of the best in Test cricket.

“Blessed to see Rohit Sharma play cricket over the years. He has one of the best pull shots in Test cricket.” The Australian legend’s words highlight Rohit’s ability to execute this challenging shot with a blend of elegance and power.

Despite Rohit’s brilliance, India suffered a rare home defeat in the first Test against New Zealand, losing by 8 wickets at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. This marked the second time India lost a Test match at home this year. The match had some dramatic moments, especially on the rain-delayed fifth day.

Chasing a target of 107 on Day 5, New Zealand stumbled early, losing captain Tom Latham for a duck and Devon Conway shortly after. However, Will Young (48) and Rachin Ravindra (39) ensured their side’s victory, helping New Zealand reach 110-2 and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Brett Lee’s Take On India’s Loss Against NZ

Commenting on India’s defeat, Brett Lee explained how the pitch favored fast bowlers early on. He also praised New Zealand’s William O’Rourke and Matt Henry for their excellent bowling performances, which played a key role in India’s loss.

“Look, it was a wicket that fast was probably conducive to fast bowling in that first innings and they just put the ball in the right spot. William O’ Rourke, bowled particularly well. Matt Henry’s obviously brilliant with the ball and a lot more experience," Lee said.

India will look to bounce back in the second Test against New Zealand, scheduled to begin on October 24 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
