In a stunning turn of events, the USA cricket team, playing their first T20 World Cup, defeated former champions Pakistan in a Super Over thriller at Dallas' Grand Prairie Stadium.

Both teams ended with a score of 159 in regulation time before the USA successfully defended 18 runs in the Super Over, marking a historic victory.

Pakistani reacts to shocking defeat vs USA

The defeat to USA has left the Pakistan cricket fraternity in disbelief. Cricket analyst Omair Alavi termed the defeat a "black day" in Pakistan cricket history.

"It is a black day in Pakistan cricket history. I mean where is the pride and that fighting spirit that was synonymous with our players," Analyst Omair Alavi said.

Former Pakistani legends like Wasim Akram and Younis Khan also criticized the team's performance.

Akram expressed his disappointment, emphasizing the need for a more strategic approach in such crucial matches. Younis Khan echoed similar sentiments, stressing the importance of adapting to new challenges.

Former captain Javed Miandad, however, acknowledged the USA team’s effort, stating, "Credit to the USA team for pulling off a huge upset despite playing for the first time at the game's highest level."

Mohammad Hafeez, another former captain and coach, was critical of the team’s strategy, particularly the decision to revert to Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan as openers.

Looking ahead, Pakistan faces a high-stakes match against India on June 9 in New York. This game is crucial for Pakistan’s hopes of advancing to the Super 8s in the tournament.
