Lightning struck twice against South Africa when Netherlands 'Double-Dutched' them in Dharamsala in the World Cup 2023, courtesy of a wonderful effort from skipper Scott Edwards alongside their bowlers who bowled them out for 207 while chasing 246. All this happened after the Netherlands ousted the Proteas from the T20 World Cup last year in Adelaide.

Similarly to last time, Africa were unable to chase down the score, for which Edwards toiled hard with the lower-order batters to secure a decent total. From 112 for six at one stage, the Dutch went on to score 245 with 78 from Edwards, supported well by Roelof van der Merwe's 29 and Aryan Dutt's nine-ball 23 containing three gigantic sixes.

After the game, Edwards expressed that he knew the issue was that they were getting bowled out before the end of the innings, which is something they wanted to rectify, for which he decided to stick till the end of their overs.

"I think over the last couple of games, our issue has been losing wickets before the innings ends. So I just thought of sticking around, and I was supported nicely from the other end."

Adding that, his teammates, especially van der Merwe and Dutt, supported him nicely, with the latter coming out as one of the best strikers of the cricket ball he has ever seen from a number 10 batter.

"It's good fun to bat with Roelof. He hits in some strange areas and runs hard between the wickets, which is always challenging. (On Aryan Dutt) I just tried to get him on strike, and he was clearing the ropes. Certainly one of the best hitting I have seen in a while, especially from a number 10 batter."

Edwards further mentioned that he is extremely satisfied with his side's performance as their dream of playing the semi-finals is well and truly alive, considering their massive win over the tournament favourites South Africa.

"Really proud of the boys. We came into the tournament and hoped to play in the semi-finals. To do so, we have to beat the top teams, and South Africa are certainly favourites in this tournament. So, happy to get over the line."

The Netherlands will next turn against Sri Lanka on 21st October in Lucknow, where they would look to continue to momentum in this mega-event.
