Aryan Dutt’s death-overs fury, coupled with captain Scott Edwards’ finishing act elevated Netherlands to a monumental 245-8 from their rain-curtailed 43-overs innings upfront. Dutt, having arrived to the crease with mere three overs remaining in the innings, faced just nine deliveries in the death and smoked three of them for colossal sixes against in-form Proteas speedsters Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Gerald Coetzee.

During the mid-innings break, the 20-year-old received much admiration from Cricket Netherlands, who compared the youngster with none other than legendary Indian player MS Dhoni.

“He is our boy…” Cricket Netherlands after Dutt’s assault on SA

Aryan Dutt mauled South Africa’s death overs attack with three sixes from just nine balls, and stretched his side’s score from 204-8 to a competitive 245 alongside captain Scott Edwards.

Dutt himself produced 23 unbeaten runs in his thunderous nine-ball cameo and his innings drew much admirations from all corners of the cricketing fraternity. Cricket Netherlands even took to X (formerly Twitter) and compared the youngster with a certain MS Dhoni for his six-hitting abilities.

The cricketing body also compared Dutt’s bat with that of Dhoni’s early days blade as the two willows share similar designs. Cricket Netherlands wrote:

“With or without sixes, he is our boy indeed! Dutt's the way, Mahi way (since his bat bears a close resemblance to one of the best six hitters' early days bat)”

Aryan Dutt also opened Netherlands bowling in the South African run-chase and conceded just 19 runs from his first five overs of the innings. His tight lines allowed his teammates to put early pressure on the Proteas, as they slumped from 36-0 to 44-4 in a space of four overs.
