According to emerging reports, England Test captain Ben Stokes will likely miss the initial County Championship matches for Durham, as he continues to recover from injury. The legendary all-rounder underwent hamstring surgery, and he was expected to rehabilitate within three months.

No Ben Stokes For Durham In 2025 County Season, Says Ryan Campbell

However, Durham County Cricket Club's coach Ryan Campbell recently stated that Stokes wouldn't be a part of the team due to fitness concerns. It's worth mentioning that the veteran cricketer pulled his hamstring muscle twice inside six months, eventually leading to surgery which ruled him out of the Champions Trophy.

As he has yet to recover from it, Ben Stokes won't feature in Durham's first six County Championship matches, which they will play before the start of the 2025 home summer.

Campbell also provided updates on Mark Wood and Brydon Carse, stating the club wouldn't force the duo to get back into action, considering their importance for the national side.

"At this stage, they're probably not likely to play for us. My expectation is that it'll be zero - anything else is an added bonus. They're all coming back from serious injuries. The facts are that they need to get up and running by the time the Test matches start," Campbell was quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo.

Will Ben Stokes Miss India Series Due To Injury?

Several media outlets have reported that Stokes could be sidelined from the home Test series against India. However, the original report on ESPN Cricinfo doesn't make any such claim. In fact, it states that Campbell is quite confident of Stokes giving his 100 per cent for the country this home season.

"What we know about Stokesy is that he's here nearly every single day working his butt off. The guy had hamstring surgery and was in the next day lifting weights, which I couldn't believe. He sets the bar, wherever he is. He's such a hard-working bloke and he'll do whatever it takes to be up and running for England, which is really exciting for England fans," Campbell added.
