Following India's triumphant return to ICC glory with their T20 World Cup win after an 11-year drought, BCCI President Roger Binny has hinted at a potential coaching change, signaling the end of Rahul Dravid's tenure as head coach.

Celebrating Rohit Sharma and his team's hard-fought victory over South Africa in Barbados, Binny expressed confidence in Gautam Gambhir's potential to lead the Indian cricket team forward.

Gambhir has got a lot of experience: BCCI president

"Gautam Gambhir has got a lot of experience and if he takes the job it's definitely going to be a good thing for Indian cricket. He is experienced that's what India needs. India needs a coach who played the game, and he has played in all three formats of the game," Binny said.

Gambhir, a veteran of Indian cricket and a 2011 World Cup winner, has openly expressed his interest in coaching the national team, though he remained reserved about directly commenting on the role.

Under Rahul Dravid's guidance, India had reached the finals of multiple ICC events, including the ODI World Cup and the World Test Championship in 2023. Despite near misses, Dravid's leadership was lauded for its impact on team cohesion and performance.
