Litton Das has accepted that he was dropped from Bangladesh’s national squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy because of his dwindling white-ball form. The blistering wicketkeeper-batter managed to score just six runs in the three ODIs against West Indies last month, and hauled just 17 runs in the subsequent three T20I innings in the Caribbean.

Moreover, Das also made just 42 runs in the first four innings of the BPL 2024-25 season for the Dhaka Capitals. However, on the day of his exclusion from the national squad, the 30-year-old exploded with a match-winning 125* from just 55 balls for his franchise against Durbar Rajshahi in Sylhet.

Litton Das admits he has ‘not been playing well’

While speaking with the media after mounting 125* from 55 balls against Durbar Rajshahi in match 18 of the BPL 2024-25 season, Litton Das admitted that he was dropped from Bangladesh’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad because of his dismal form with the bat off late. He said:

“The Champions Trophy selection wasn't in my control. The selectors took the call. They decide whom to play. My job is to perform. I haven't been able to do that. I think I was a bit upset about it. I have the same mindset before and after the game today. I was given a clear message. Maybe not from the selectors but it is easy to find out why I wasn't picked in the team. I was dropped because I wasn't performing. There's nothing to hide about it.”

Litton Das added that he is not looking to prove anything to anyone, but is merely out searching for improvement. The attacking wicketkeeper-batter emphasised the importance of attaining consistency, especially after his latest match-winning knock in the BPL. He added:

“I am not out there to prove to anyone. I only look for improvement. I don't think I was playing well for the last few months. I will try to become more consistent from this point, especially after this innings.”

A couple of days before Bangladesh’s Champions Trophy 2025 selection, Litton Das also smeared 73 from just 43 balls against Sylhet Strikers. So far, the right-handed opening batter has made 240 runs this BPL 2024-25 season at an average of 48, and is currently placed second among the leading run-scorers of the tournament.
