The recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 witnessed some great cricket in the final leg of the competition, which sadly also saw unruly behaviour from fans towards Imad Wasim, who was constantly greeted with 'Babar, Babar' chants.

For the uninitiated, Wasim criticised former Pakistan captain Babar Azam for his performance in the ICC World Cup 2023, which has not been taken kindly by the batter's fans. Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir, who himself has dealt with 'Babar, Babar' chants has spoken up against such behaviour from the crowd.

In an interview, Amir stated how most Babar Azam fans are "too sensitive" and are majorly on social media platforms.

The 31-year-old further urged fans to keep their emotions to themselves, not let other cricketers bear the brunt of it, and maintain decorum, while stating that people who chant 'Babar, Babar' are not even the Peshawar Zalmi captain's fans.

Amir, himself got into a verbal argument during PSL 2024 while turning up for the Quetta Gladiators match. After a fan chanted the 'fixer, fixer' slogan, Amir after initially ignoring the chants, schooled the fan for his upbringing, and asked him to maintain his manners.

Meanwhile, Azam will be expected to take the field for Pakistan in their upcoming T20Is against a touring New Zealand side, which starts on April 18.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are pondering over the possibility of removing Shaheen Shah Afridi as captain, and making either Azam or Mohammed Rizwan their new leader heading into ICC T20 WC 2024.
