'Babar Azam Reminds Me Of Virat Kohli', Says Australian Great Before Asia Cup

The rise of Babar Azam in international cricket has been nothing short of exceptional. Since debuting in 2015, the stylish right-handed batter from Lahore has been the mainstay of Pakistan's batting lineup, leading them to many memorable victories. However, as one would expect, he has been constantly compared with legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli for his sensational stroke play and incredible consistency.

Meanwhile, former Australian cricketer Tom Moody has admitted to being impressed with Babar's attributes. Speaking on Star Sports, the ex-SRH coach commended the Pakistani sensation's game plan, explaining how he reminds him of Virat Kohli.

'He reminds me very much of Virat Kohli'- Tom Moody on Babar Azam

"He does remind me very much of Virat Kohli, the way he goes about his business. He plays authentic cricket shots. He seems to understand, read the game very well, which Kohli has done for over a decade. He is a good chaser as well like Virat Kohli has proven to be over many many years," Moody said as quoted by the Indian Express.

"So, there’s so much likeness between the two and I wouldn’t go as far as saying that Virat is gonna have a better Asia Cup than Babar Azam, but they both can have equal pressure on them and it’s gonna be a delight to watch them both bat because they are box office," the erstwhile cricketer concluded.

Meanwhile, Kohli and Babar are all set to feature in the Asia Cup 2023 commencing on Wednesday, August 30. Pakistan will play the tournament opener against Nepal before taking on arch-rivals India in their second group-stage fixture on September 2.
