Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar did not hold back in his criticism of Babar Azam and the Pakistan cricket team following their crushing six-wicket defeat to India in the Champions Trophy 2025.

Speaking on the show 'Game On Hai', Shoaib Akhtar took a direct dig at Babar’s approach, questioning his choice of inspiration. The former speedster was so disappointed with Pakistan’s performance that he admitted he had no desire to even discuss the team.
“We always compare Babar Azam to Virat Kohli. Now tell me who is hero of Virat Kohli? Sachin Tendulkar and he has scored 100 centuries and Virat is chasing his legacy. Who is Babar Azam’s hero? Tuk tuk (no mention of cricketer he is referring to). You have picked the wrong heroes. Your thought process is wrong.
You were a fraud from the beginning. I would not even wish to talk about Pakistan cricket team. I am only dong this because I am getting paid." Akhtar said on the show “Game On Hai”.
India’s Clinical Chase vs Pakistan
After Pakistan managed 241, with Khushdil Shah and Saud Shakeel making notable contributions. Babar Azam did not made much-contribution with the bat and managed only 23 runs off 26 balls.
Talking about India, the 'Men in Blue' dominated the run-chase. Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma provided a strong start, while Kohli, anchored the innings with a milestone knock. The dynamic Indian batter became the fastest player to reach 14,000 ODI runs, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record.
On the other hand, Pakistan now faces an uphill battle for a semi-final spot, relying on favourable results from other matches.
