England had a tough pill to swallow after letting go of the ongoing Ashes series. The visitors lost the first three matches of the series in Australia, effectively losing the opportunity to once again get their hands on the urn. Rubbing salt in their wounds, former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has taken a sly dig at their inability to perform down under.

Speaking at an event in Gurugram, the veteran cricketer pointed out that playing in Australia is one of the most challenging things. Rohit subtly used England’s ongoing campaign in the Ashes as an example.

"Australia mein khelna sabse difficult hai; aap England ko puch he sakte ho (playing in Australia is the most difficult; you can ask England about it)," Rohit said while addressing the audience.

Rohit himself has had a few good performances in Australia, most recently scoring a century and a fifty in the ODI series and becoming the oldest Indian player to win a Player of the Series Award. He scored 202 runs in that match at a strike rate of 85.59.

England can only play for redemption

As for England, they have not fared too well in the series. They faced eight-wicket defeats in both Perth and Brisbane and then went on to lose the third game in Adelaide by 82 runs.

While they can not win the series, they do have a chance to redeem themselves in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and in the final game of the series at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Ben Stokes and his men will need a complete overhaul of their strategy for the last two games to stand a chance at redemption.
