Shadab Khan has teamed up with David Warner for the first time in his playing career, as he now represents the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League (BBL). The Pakistani cricketer has now opened up on what it is like playing with the legend of the game for the first time.

In a video posted on BBL’s official Instagram handle, Shadab described Warner as “the legend of the game” and revealed that playing alongside him was a great learning experience. He also added that Warner has a “swap personality” on and off the field.

While Shadab has played against Warner on several occasions, this is the first time the two are sharing the same dressing room. According to Shadab, as a teammate, David Warner is very friendly and supportive, looks after everyone and tries to make others comfortable in the group.

"To be honest, I think he has a swap personality. On the field, he is very different—he is like a bull. But off the field, he is one of the most amazing person I have ever met. He is very kind, very helpful, and always there for the youngsters. It’s like he has a switch; when he crosses the line, he’s a different man, but in the dressing room, he’s a completely different person," he said.

Sydney Thunder get off to a poor start in the 2025-26 season

In the meantime, the 2015-16 champions have gotten off to a rocky start this time around, having lost their first two games against the Hobart Hurricanes and the Sydney Sixers, respectively. They will be eager to bounce back after the early setback and try to win their next match against the Brisbane Heat.

They currently stand at the bottom of the points table, being the only team without a victory in the season so far. A win here will be crucial for them to get the early momentum in the tournament.
