Australian cricket star David Warner recently shared a heartfelt wish that he always wanted to play on the same team as Indian legend Virat Kohli. His confession comes after the latter retired from Test cricket last week.

After 14 long years, Kohli hung up his Test cap to step away from the red ball format. He fell a few runs short off the 10,000 mark but felt the time was right to pass over the baton to young faces.

Meanwhile, since Kohli quit the Test format, tributes have been pouring in for him from all parts of the world. David Warner also joined the list and confessed his unfulfilled wish.

David Warner Lauds Virat Kohli’s Passion, Hard Work

Former Australian cricketer David Warner and Virat Kohli have faced each other for more than 10 years on the cricket field. While the duo were fierce rivals, Warner revealed that he always respected Kohli’s hard work, attitude, and passion as a Test player.

He revealed that he always wanted to play with Kohli on the same team as teammates, but that wish is likely to remain unfulfilled.

"Virat was an excellent ambassador for the format and that’s because he is one of the most hard working players you will see - We may have been playing for rival teams but this is something I have always respected in him - The attitude & the self belief. In fact, if you ask me I’d have wanted to play with Virat in the same team at least once. It would have been nice to do so. For the sheer energy and the passion, this will remain one of my unfulfilled wishes as a player," Warner told RevSportz.

David Warner went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, after which he joined the PSL as Karachi Kings’ captain.

RCB Fans Likely To Honour Kohli

In a stunning twist, RCB fans will wear India’s Test jerseys during their May 17 IPL 2025 match against KKR to honour Virat Kohli’s Test retirement. Kohli, who scored 9,230 runs in 123 Tests, continues to shine in IPL 2025, with over 500 runs in 11 games, averaging an impressive 63.12.
