Pakistan’s World Cup campaign in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 ended in a disaster as the team finished 5th in the points table with only 4 wins to their name. In addition, they succumbed to some shocking defeats against India and Afghanistan, the latter managing to defeat the Men in Green for the first time in ODI cricket. All in all, their dismal outing has left the former cricketers fuming and sent intense shockwaves deep within the PCB administration.

Former cricketer-turned-commentator Ramiz Raja called out Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi for their below-par performance and felt strongly that Babar Azam shouldn’t receive all the blame if their bowlers go around the park. Raja has been fairly critical of Pakistan’s bowling efforts in this year’s World Cup tournament and believes that it’s the bowlers who have let them down.

Moreover, Raja not only lashed out at the bowlers but also questioned the role of PCB amidst all the chaos and the mismanagement that has recently taken place within the Pakistani camp. In addition, he emphasized that replacing the captain and coaching staff would not solve the issue, as he feels that the Pakistani cricket team lacks passion.

"Jab naye ball se wickets nahi lenge, aap expensive hote jayenge toh Babar Azam kya khaak kapataani karega? And then they (PCB) would gather some ex-cricketers and ask them how to fix cricket? Who put them in charge (of the board)? Is their job just to huddle together and change the captain and the coaching staff and everyone would think they have taken a major step? Not even an inch of Pakistan’s cricket can get better if you don’t have passion for the game. You need to change yourself and your mindset. You need to shut this process of leaking news to your favourite reporters."

Previously, Raja has also expressed his discontent against PCB chief Zaka Ashraf who also spoke ill about Babar and Rizwan whenever the duo underperformed.
