The Men in Green finished their World Cup campaign on a very dismal note after being bamboozled by the defending champions by a whopping 93 runs at Eden Gardens on Saturday. They finished 5th in the points table with 4 wins in 9 matches. Following their below-par performance in this year’s World Cup tournament, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to restructure its committee.

It has been learnt that the former cricketers Waqar Younis, Aaqib Javed, and Shahid Afridi are under consideration for important posts in the Pakistan Board. Amid widespread speculation, the names of Younis Khan and Azhar Ali have also popped up as the management seeks to have a new set-up in place the moment the interim arrangement expires.

Moreover, the Zaka Ashraf-led 12-member committee got a three-month extension and will continue to operate till February next year. A PCB insider has revealed that several key positions pertaining to Chief Selector, Director of Cricket, and Coaching Staff of the national side will be made available shortly.

"After the World Cup since the Pakistan squad has to leave for Australia and New Zealand. Zaka Ashraf who heads the cricket management committee running the Pakistan Cricket Board affairs has already started discussing possible plans and appointments for the future," a PCB insider told.

Furthermore, the insider also went on to claim that Shoaib Malik is very likely in line to become a coach of the captain of the national T20 side. Final decisions will be made after consultation with former players and evaluations of the team’s performance in the Asia Cup and World Cup.

Waqar has previously worked as a head coach with the Pakistan team twice while Aaqib Javed and Younis Khan have also assumed coaching responsibilities for the national side in the past.
