As the Indian Premier League is back with its old glory, the Chennai fans are currently dealing with consecutive heartbreaks. After starting the tournament with a victory against the Mumbai Indians, they faced consecutive defeats against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Rajasthan Royals.

From struggling in the power play to losing control of the ball, the team is facing a tough patch. As the team is preparing for the next matches, a former Indian player suggests some key changes to overcome the challenges.

Srikkanth’s Key Suggestions For CSK’s Lineup

After winning their inaugural match against the Mumbai Indians, they faced consecutive defeats in their last two encounters. In the last two matches, their struggle regarding the opening duo has been a concern. Along with that, Ravichandran Ashwin is also struggling with his form as he secured only 3 wickets in 3 matches.

As the team gears up for its next game, former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth has recommended some crucial changes. He suggested dropping Ashwin from the powerplay and giving Davon Conway a chance over Jamie Overton to strengthen the lineup.

“Conway has to come in place of Jamie Overton and also bring in Anshul Kamboj into the XI. With regards to Ashwin, don’t drop him, but stop him from bowling in the powerplay. Between 7-18th over he can be effective, with Jadeja and Noor Ahmad, they can easily slip in 10 overs at least. I will drop Tripathi and bring in Kamboj and then Conway in place of Overton,” he said.

Srikkanth Pushes For Dube’s Spot Fn Playing XI

In previous matches, Chennai Super Kings used Shivam Dube as their impact player. Coming as an impact player, he scored 46 runs in 3 matches with a strike rate of 143.8. Ahead of their next clash, Krishnamachari Srikkanth has called for Dube to be included in the playing XI, with Andre Sidharth taking on the impact player role.

“I would make Shivam Dube play in the XI and bring in Andre Siddharth as an Impact Player. Even Mukesh Chowdhary is a good option, he has bowled well for CSK in the past,” he added.

On April 5, Chennai Super Kings will cross swords against Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, live from 3:30 PM. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Co. will be eyeing bounce back in the next match.
