Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are having a fantastic run in IPL 2025. They kicked off the tournament with a bang, defeating defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening match. Then, they crushed Chennai Super Kings by 50 runs at Chepauk, breaking their 17-year losing streak at the venue.
Virender Sehwag Trolls Virat Kohli's RCB
Thanks to their consistent performance, RCB currently sits at the top of the IPL points table after the first week of the league. However, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag took a dig at them, playfully mocking their history of never winning an IPL trophy.
In a viral video, Sehwag joked about RCB’s position at the top, calling them “gareeb” (poor). He said,
"Gareebon ko bhi toh rehne de, photo le le thodi der. Pata nahi kitnin der gareeb log upar rahenge. (Let the poor be on top of the IPL points, let them click photos. Who knows for how long they will be at the top). What do you think, I was talking about money? No. They are all wealthy in terms of money. Franchises earn 400-500 crore every season. I'm not talking about that. The ones who haven't won a single trophy, I'm calling them gareeb."
RCB has never won an IPL title, and they aren’t alone. Teams like Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Delhi Capitals (DC) are also waiting for their first championship win.
Next, RCB will face Gujarat Titans (GT) on Wednesday, April 2 at their home ground, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, for the first time this season.
