Ramandeep Singh's Surprising Hint (Source: @Rokte_Amarr_KKR/x.com)
Last night, the Wankhede Stadium witnessed a pure thriller as the Mumbai Indians outplayed the Kolkata Knight Riders with their dominance. The defending champions are having a tough time as they have already registered two defeats in their first three games.
In the last match, KKR struggled with both batting and bowling, and as a result, the match slipped away from them. In the aftermath of the defeat, retained player Ramandeep Singh has suggested a promotion in the batting order, aiming to make a stronger impact in upcoming matches.
Ramandeep Singh’s Suggestion On KKR’s Batting Order
After successfully winning the IPL 2024 trophy, the Kolkata Knight Riders started their IPL 2025 campaign with woes. After starting their journey with a defeat against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, their last defeat against the Mumbai Indians deepened their woes.
While batting first against the Mumbai Indians, the KKR batters failed to make an impact as they kept losing consecutive wickets. Coming to bat as the number 9 batter, Ramandeep Singh played a crucial knock of 22 runs in 12 balls before the team ended their innings in 116 runs. After the disappointing loss, he made a surprising suggestion, hinting at a promotion in the batting order.
“Main toh chahta hu mujhhe open kara de. Meri toh wahi koshish rehti hai” Ramandeep said.
Ramandeep Emphasizes His Versatility in the Batting Order
Ramandeep Singh, known for his aggressive stroke play, usually takes on the role of a lower-order finisher. In the last match, he made his mark at No. 9. Even after coming up with the surprising suggestion, he is happy to contribute to the team batting at any position.
“Team ka jaha combination set hai, jaha team mein mujhe opporutnity milti hai, mujhe waha accha karne ki koshish karni hai. Match-winner banne ki koshish karni hai.” he added.
After a crushing 8-wicket loss, Kolkata Knight Riders have sunk to the bottom of the points table with just 2 points and a net run rate of -1.428. As they are set to face the Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 3, Ajinkya Rahane and Co. will try hard to make a stronger bounce back.
