Ashes 2023 | 'Very Uncharacteristic': Labuschagne On His Twin Dismissals Against Stuart Broad At Edgbaston

Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne rued his twin dismissals at the hands of English seamer Stuart Broad in the Edgbaston Test, terming them as 'uncharacteristic.'

Labuschagne was dismissed cheaply in both innings after he chased out-swingers from Broad, which he could have left easily.

The right-hander stated that the low bounce at Edgbaston sucked him into thinking that he could get away with driving on the up, which led to the indecision to chase deliveries which were well outside off-stump.

Marnus gave due credit to Broad for working him over twice in the first Test, but he asserted that he won't let the English pacer get into his head.

"With a lack of bounce at Edgbaston, it sucks you into thinking you can hit the ball a bit more and I just made a few poor decisions [against balls] that were really wide. They'd be an eighth or ninth stump, some of those deliveries," Labuschagne was quoted as saying by India Today.

"They were very uncharacteristic dismissals to how I've usually played, that's why I was pretty frustrated with myself to get out that way and asked myself the question, 'Why did I play at those deliveries?.'

"I've come up with my own summation of what that is. Now it's if there's anything I can do tactically or technically to make sure it doesn't happen again. It's a rarity that I'd play at those balls, so it's not something I'm going to overthink, but I hold myself to a much higher standard than those dismissals,"

Marnus has endured a torrid time in the UK so far, and he will be looking to set the record straight when he takes guard at the Lord's Cricket Ground, come June 28th.
