Former West Indies white-ball skipper and dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran continued his whirlwind form in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023 as he smashed the third-fastest ton in the format in his teams' history against the Netherlands on Monday (June 26).

Pooran smashed a brutal 63-ball ton with the help of 9 fours and 6 monstrous sixes, and his unbeaten 65-ball 104* ensured that the West Indies racked up 374/6 in 50 overs.

The left-hander has now become the 3rd fastest ODI centurion in West Indies history, with the first two spots occupied by Brian Charles Lara (45 balls vs Bangladesh in 1999) & Christopher Henry Gayle, who hammered a 55-ball ton against England back in 2019.

Pooran has been in amazing form in the ongoing tournament. He kicked it off with a 28-ball 43 against the United States of America before hammering a belligerent 94-ball 115 against Nepal to seal another victory for the islanders.

He couldn't convert his start (34 off 36) against Zimbabwe, and the West Indies eventually went on to lose the game by 35 runs.

Pooran and the West Indian fans will hope that he carries his brilliant form into the all-important Super-6 stage.
